little treasures.

Has this ever happened to you where you are purging your old things and you come across little treasures that you had completely forgotten about? Well that's what happened to me! I was going through my "special" jewellery (all the expensive and fancy jewels that are kept in hiding...), and I came across this forgotten necklace that I had kept safe. Maybe a little too safe.
It's a mix of red stone beads (not 100% sure what kind), white pearls and gold. It's very traditional and  of course, Indian. It was actually a wedding gift from my grand aunt, and has a funny story behind it, so whenever I see this, it puts a smile on my face.  I do realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, which is valid, but I think it's the thought that counts.
Sure, it may be look like something our grandmother's would've worn back when they were married, but that's what I love about it. It's so unique and I have nothing like it. The other Indian jewellery I own is a lot more modern, so I do appreciate the heritage that this necklace captures. More over, it's more special to me, again, because of the thought behind this gift.
My grand aunt is a wonderful elderly lady, and I can't thank her enough for thinking about me during a special time in my life. And although, we are not close, I do cherish this kind gesture of hers. This is one of my little treasures that I keep close to my heart. And who knows, maybe I can find a way to rock this in a cool OOTD!

I'd love to hear what your little treasures are, let me know down below!

  1. That necklace is so pretty and so traditional. It reminds me of something my mom and aunts would be wearing in pictures from their early days - something my mom would dig out of her drawers while cleaning and reminisce and smile over.
P.s. I love your blog, keep it up.

  3. Oh my! That’s so pretty. I love old treasures like this too. There’s a charm about it.
I’m totally guilty of having kept things so safe that I’ve lost them only to rediscover them a few months later. But then that excitement when you find it is just unparalleled!

My favourite has to be a really old picture of mom’s from college. :) I just treasure it so much.
