Collective Empties 3.2
Skincare
This is the third and final installment of this Collective Empties posts, if you didn't get a chance to read, you may read part one here and part two here. I really hope you enjoy this series or atleast if you take something away from it, it will make me oh-so happy! This is for all of you skincare junkies, these are some of my favourite skincare products that i've emptied and would like to share with you!
Spectro Daily Facial Moisturizer for Dry Skin | I bought this product upon recommendation from my bestie, J - she swears by this stuff, so I thought why not give it a try?! To my surprise, I really liked it too! First off, I love that the product comes in a pump bottle as opposed to a squeezy tube or the likes, and I know it seems minimal but it really affects how much of the product you will use. Plus I love everything that comes packaged with a pump! BUT we will discuss that in another post! ANYWAY, I was fairly happy with the consistency of the moisturizer (usually I like them thick) but this was slightly thin for my liking, but I looked past that. There are multiple Spectro Moisturizers for different skin types, but I experience dry and oily skin a lot of the time so I chose this one. The size of the bottle is also a decent size, and I have thrown it into my handbag a few times for on the go use. Over all it's a good product, it does help cure dry skin, but the real question is: would I repurchase? Uhhhhh. Probably, but not at this time. I'd like to explore the "daily moisturizer horizons" for a little while longer, and if I don't find any I like, I'll surely come back to this!
Clean & Clear Daily Action Moisturizer | This is one of my all time favourite moisturizers EVER! I've used this product since my middle school (?)/ early high school days! Those were the days where I didn't know much about skincare and suffered from teenage acne, so naturally Clean & Clear was my first choice for a moisturizer since I was already using other acne products from their line. One big plus for me is it's oil-free. My skin is so oily you could fry an egg on it (and no, I haven't tried ...), so naturally I was drawn to it. The consistency of the product is just perfect, not too thin or too thick AND it comes with a pump - genius I tell you! It moisturizes well and leaves my skin feeling cool, fresh and tingly! I love this stuff, I usually keep this around even as I use another daily moisturizer just in case!
Up & Up Apricot Facial Scrub (Target brand) | Sighs. Where do I start with this product? First off, I bought this INSTEAD of my regular favourite purchase of the St Ives Apricot Scrub. Big mistake. I thought saving $0.50 - $1.00 on the same product would be worth it but honestly I'd rather haven't spent the extra pennies and got what I really wanted. First off, this scrub is 20 mg less than the St Ives one, but that aside, the consistency and level of exfoliation of the product is the same/ if not slightly better. With that been said, it really depends upon the person. I like my scrubs rough because to me, it feels like i'm really getting the dirty and grim out of my oily skin. I love using it on my nose, forehead and not to mention my underarms (yes, I said underarms)! It cleans well and leaves my skin feel soft, clean and fresh. The worst part has to be the scent. I know what you are thinking, who cares if it smells like apricots - get over it Saf! But that's the thing. It doesn't. Instead, it smells like acrylic paint. OR better yet, like Elmer's glue (you know that kind we used to make crafts in Kindergarten?!). And I'm not kidding. It made me sick every time I used it! I decided not to be a wasteful Wendy and throw it away, so instead I plugged my nose and used it ALL up. Super proud of myself. So, would I buy this product again? No. Next time i'll stick to my gut feeling and spend the extra $0.50 - trust me when I say it's well worth it!
Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash | LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff! Honestly speaking, one of my favourite brands EVER! Sadly, a full line of products can mostly be found in India and Dubai (?) but not here in Canada. When I was in India last, I used this product amongst other Himalaya Herbals products and my skin never felt/ looked better. This face wash is lovely as an everyday wash and perfect for freshening up your skin! It contains herbal ingredients and is perfect even for sensitive skin. The consistency is perfect; very close to a thin gel and it washes of easily after applied. I also really love the scent - so fresh and clean smelling and you know how I am with scents! Nothing bad I can say about this except I can't find it anywhere!! I've been on the lookout (at my local Indian/ Pakistani grocery stores) for this but no one seems to be carrying this size anymore. All I find is the tiny thumb-size bottles (which are great for keeping in your hand bag) but I prefer the large size. Sighs. I'm still on the lookout - if anyone knows where I can get my hand on this please share!
Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover | I have mentioned this product in one of my previous empties' posts here, and I swear by this stuff. I was hunting for the perfect eye makeup remover and I have def found it. It's so easy to use, just pour onto a cotton ball or cotton pad and rub over your eye area to remove make up. The consistency is quite thin, so be careful when pouring! You also don't need to use much of the product, a good few drops should do the trick depending on how heavy your make up is. As you can see, I have repurchased since I last posted about this so it's definitely a hit!
St Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer | Last but not least, another moisturizer! So as you can tell from this post, I am on the lookout for a new moisturizer. So when I came across this product from one of my favourite brands you can image my joy. I love that the packaging is big and you get a lot of product - something a lot of brands are skimping out on nowadays. Also, St Ives products are always reasonably priced, so obviously, it was cha-ching for me! Well, that's what I thought but not so much. The consistency of the product was good, just right and perfect for my taste. Only problem was it wasn't as moisturizing as I expected. I used it at different times during my day (after a shower, and throughout the day as needed) but found the same results, which was a little disappointing. I would use it and for a short time it would be "moisturizing" and then within a few minutes my skin would feel dry again... as if my skin just sucked up all the moisture. Weird I know, but it happened the same way every time I used it. So I won't be repurchasing this! On to the next moisturizer ...
That's the end of my collective empties for now, I hope you enjoyed this and it helped you in someway...
Have you used any of these products before? Let me know!
